Bike trainers are available in magnetic resistance, magneto resistance, fluid resistance, centrifugal force resistance and electronic resistance all designed to change your bike into a stationary bike. Stationary bike trainers or stands allow you to continue to ride your bike regardless of the weather outside and can also help with physical therapy at home. Whatever reason you have in needing a stationary bike, check out the various trainers available to find the one that best suites you and your training needs.
Step 1
Measure the rear wheel diameter of your bike and obtain either a manual or electric bike trainer that fits your bike.
Step 2
Install the rear wheel axle bolt into the couplings at the top of the bike trainer, holding the bike stationary. Lock the left coupling and then the right coupling to hold the bike securely in the trainer.
Step 3
Center the rear wheel on the bike trainer drive roller. Turn the roller adjustment knob on the trainer to place resistance against the rear wheel of the bike. Trainers supplied with remote resistance shifters require you to install the shifter onto the bike handlebars.
