Nothing will do more to preserve your beautiful, youthful appearance than cloaking your gray hair. Unfortunately, most commercial dyes and color rinses contain harmful ingredients that are harsh and drying, according to MotherEarthNews.com. The good news is that you can effectively cover those gray hairs that start affecting your look with some natural, simple ingredients you can find at a supermarket or health food store.
Step 1
Pour 2 cups of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Step 2
Add a handful of sage (for dark brown to black hair) or tag alder bark (for dark blond to medium brown hair) and simmer for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
Step 4
Strain the liquid into the plastic bowl.
Step 5
Saturate the tea solution on your damp, freshly-washed hair. Rinse after 10 minutes and comb your hair. Apply once a week until you achieve the desired shade. After that, a monthly treatment should be enough to maintain your new naturally colored hair.
