Mini Golf Courses in Myrtle Beach

Miniature golf is a major activity in Myrtle Beach, and the city is densely populated with courses to try. Elaborate features and obstacles are typical, and many of the best courses create adventures for their players that progress from hole No. 1 to hole No. 18, providing a sense of a journey. Water hazards, lifelike animals and tropical plants are common.

Hawaiian courses

There are three Hawaiian-themed courses in the Myrtle Beach area that are among the most renowned mini-golf courses in the world. The Hawaiian Rumble, the Hawaiian Caverns and the Hawaiian Village each have hosted major tournaments of the U.S. Pro Mini Golf Association. The Hawaiian Rumble features a large volcano that shoots flames from its top every 20 minutes. The course has been featured by Golf Magazine and the Travel Channel, among other media outlets.

Dragon's Lair Fantasy Golf

Dragon's Lair Fantasy Golf, which is located at Broadway at the Beach, has a Middle Ages theme to it. Castles are located at many of the greens, and dragons and knights populate much of the course, according to Myrtle Beach Guide, which noted that the course had been awarded "Best of the Beach" in a survey of the city's top tourist attractions.

Jungle Lagoon

Jungle Lagoon Miniature Golf, which is close to the beach, includes two 18-hole courses. One is called the Jungle Course, and one is called the Lagoon Course. The facility has a lookout that offers wide, expansive views of Myrtle Beach. There are numerous animal statues on the courses, including giraffe, zebras, elephants and alligators. Terrain resembles a jungle landscape with exotic plants, caves, streams, a waterfall and a lagoon.

Mt. Atlanticus Miniature Golf

The Mt. Atlanticus Mini Golf facility is like few others. The course was built in the former home of a department store, including outside on its roof and in its parking garage, according to Myrtle Beach Guide. The course runs both inside and outside, creating an unusual setting for play. The name Mt. Atlanticus refers to the mythic land of Atlantis, and the course has a number Atlantis references, as well as extensive tropical themes. A hole-in-one on the extremely difficult final hole earns a lifetime pass.

Mayday Golf

Mayday Golf in North Myrtle Beach features two 18-hole courses. One is called Mayday Mountain, and the other is called Rescue Falls. The theme at the courses is that players have crash-landed in an airplane and play the courses to return to civilization. A large yellow airplane hovers over the Mayday Mountain course, and a rescue helicopter is perched over Rescue Falls. The Mayday Golf website touts that the Travel Channel named it the "Best Survival Course."
