Sandusky, Ohio is located about an hour west of Cleveland. It is an easy drive from the Cleveland airport, and the city has roughly 20 miles of shoreline along beautiful Lake Erie. A seemingly sleepy little town, Sandusky's waterfront locale offers a plethora of water-based activities from boating to fishing, along with a host of additional activities for the entire family in and around the city.
Fishing
Sandusky has a protected harbor that attracts many fishing enthusiasts from all over the state and across the country. Whether you are looking to wrangle in a Walleye, smallmouth bass, yellow perch or steelhead trout, you can flex your muscles sending out your fishing line from the comfort of the harbor-side pier or docks. If open waters are more your thing, sign up for a fishing charter that will take you deep into the fresh waters of Lake Erie and give you the chance to wrestle with a good sized contender.
Water Sports
If you enjoy water sports like sailing or water skiing, you might want to sign up for membership at the Sandusky Yacht Club or the Sandusky Sailing Club. Whether you have your own sailing vessel or you are interested in renting something for the day, the boating clubs can help you get out on the water, flex your sailing muscles and breathe in the fresh lake air as you sail the harbor of Lake Erie.
