Storage in kid's rooms can be hard to come by, according to Creative Homemaking. Ample storage is vital to keeping your child's room clean. It is important to find storage solutions that your child can access so he can help keep his room organized. A little creativity can lead to storage solutions in places you hadn't thought of.

Under The Bed

Many storage manufacturers make containers specifically designed to fit underneath a bed. Under the bed is an ideal place to store out-of-season clothing or extra bedding. A bed-skirt will hide the items.

A loft bed offers even more under-bed storage. With ample ceiling space, a loft bed opens up storage space underneath your child's bed. Loft beds are high enough that you can place a chest of drawers, desk or bookshelf underneath.

Bookshelves

Bookshelves can hold more than just books. Add crates or canvas bins to the bookshelf to hide small toys, art supplies or papers. Place baskets or more canvas bins along the top of the bookshelf to stash even more small toys.

Closet

There's a dizzying array of closet storage systems, but keep in mind that most are designed with an adult in mind. An adjustable system will work well in a young child's closet because you can change it to make more space as your child grows.

Place shoes that are not worn regularly in clear plastic boxes to protect them and keep them off the floor. Hang hooks for belts and bags on the wall. If your child's room is too small for a dresser or chest of drawers, use baskets and bins for underwear, socks and other clothing not normally hung.

Walls

Walls are an underutilized area for storage according to "Better Homes and Gardens." Hang shelves to display prized possessions, and attach hooks underneath the shelf to store hats, bags or hanging sports equipment.

Television shelves give you a place to put a television without dedicating the top of a piece of furniture. Decorative shelving will give you places to store movies and compact discs as a piece of art and not just hidden away.
