Genes, sleep patterns, age and allergies are all causes for baggy eyes. The skin underneath the eyes is extremely thin. When fluid builds up, the skin will look puffy and swollen. No treatments have been scientifically proven to reduce baggy eyes. However, there are a variety of popular methods that people credit with decreasing the bags underneath their eyes.
Green Tea
Brew two green tea bags in water. Allow tea bags to cool and apply one bag to each eye. Use high quality green tea that is rich in the anti-inflammatory EGCG. Drink the remaining tea for additional antioxidant properties.
Drink Water
Drink plenty of water daily. Dehydration is a common ailment that is occasionally linked with puffy eyes. Six to eight glasses of water are recommended. Avoid caffeine as this increase dehydration.
Raw Vegetables
Slice cooled potatoes or cucumbers and apply slices to your eyes. Allow vegetables to rest on eyes for 10 minutes.
Sleep
Develop good sleep habits. Make sure you are getting enough sleep at night, but remember to not over do it. Lying down can cause fluid to pool underneath the eye area. Increased fluid can make eyes appear puffy in the morning.
Sunscreen
Apply sunscreen around the eyes daily. Aging and sun effects can cause age spots, wrinkles and damage to the sensitive under eye area.
