Several sports require upper body strength and utilizing a chin-up bar can help you build strength in that area. A workout program designed around chin-ups promotes growth in your biceps, brachialis, brachio-radialis and pronator teres as well as adds width and thickness to your back. Chin-ups can help improve your overall performance in any sport that emphasizes upper body strength.

Step 1
Measure 3 ft. from the wall and mark this measurement with painter’s tape onto your ceiling. Slide a stud finder across the ceiling to locate the ceiling joist nearest the painter’s tape.

Place the chin-up bar mounting brackets against the ceiling joist and mark the mounting hole locations. Use a 1/4-inch wood drill bit to drill pilot holes into the ceiling joists at the mounting hole locations.

Mount the chin-up bar brackets onto the ceiling with 3/8-inch wood screws into the pre-drilled pilot holes. Install the bar into the brackets according to the manufacturer’s directions.
