The Everlast neck developer is a small training accessory designed to strengthen the muscles in and around your neck. It consists of a nylon cap to fit over your head, with chains that hang down to hold weight plates. A strong and durable neck is important for sports, as well as functional activities in everyday life.
Back-of-Neck Raise
The back of your neck and top of your back are prime target areas for the Everlast neck developer. To work these areas, place the cap on your head and secure a weight plate on the bottom of the chains. Choose a lighter weight than you think you will need until you are accustomed to the movement. Sit on the edge of a bench or stand with your knees bent and hands on your thighs. Slowly lower your head forward until you are looking at the floor and then raise your head back up until you are looking forward. Perform 10 to 15 repetitions.
Front-of-Neck Raise
Exercising the front of your neck with a Everlast neck developer is a little more delicate than working the back. You must first find yourself a spotter to provide assistance in case you need it. Lie on your back on a flat bench, with the neck developer cap on your head. Hang your head just off the edge of the bench and position the chains so they hang behind you toward the floor. Have your spotter attach a very light weight on the chains, then slowly raise and lower your head, using your front neck muscles. Perform as many repetitions as you are comfortable doing.
Angled Raise
To work the sides of your neck, you will make a slight alteration to the standard back-of-neck raise. Place the cap on your head, with a lightweight plate on the chains. Place your hands on your knees or thighs and then angle your head slightly to the right. Start lowering and raising the weight. Perform 10 to 15 repetitions. Angle the weight to the left and repeat.
