The temperatures outside cool down for fall, which means kids can still enjoy the long days and abundant sunshine without the oppressive summer temperatures. Outside fall games feature few limitations because the weather is often decent, and snow usually does not arrive during the fall season. Outdoor games for kids usually require large amounts of physical activity, and in addition to the health benefits, they can help kids stave off boredom.
Mini Soccer
A regulation field for soccer, 120 yards long, requires a large number of players and a lot of running for all involved. Mini soccer cuts down on the size of the field, which in turn allows a smaller number of people to enjoy the game. Played exactly like soccer, where the team with the most goals scored wins, mini soccer can be played by as few as four players per side, according to the Football Association's website. The pitch, or field, should be between 20 and 30 yards wide and between 30 and 50 yards long at its smallest, and the goals should be 12 feet wide and 6 feet tall.
Body Jump Relay
The Body Jump Relay game provides kids a chance to lie on the ground during the fall months and compete in an exciting game that requires quickness and running skill. According to the Funattic website, there should be a minimum of 12 kids, divided into two teams. Each team has its players lie on their backs in a circle, with their heads all facing the center. The first player on each team must get up and run around the circle, bounding over each player on his team before making a complete rotation. Once the first player has finished his rotation and lies back down, the second player gets up and goes through the same motion. The first team that has all six of its players go around the circle wins the relay.
Broom Tag
All that Broom Tag requires in terms of equipment is a broom. Four or more players can play the game, which starts with the "It" wielding a broom, according to Gameskidsplay.net. The "It" runs around and tries to tap other players with the bristles of the broom, and if the "It" is successful, the person who was tagged becomes a member of the "It" team. That person can then grab other players and yell "Broom Chaser!" to convert more players to the "It" team. The game is over when only one player is left who is not a part of the "It" team.
