Located in Florida right by the beach, Melbourne enjoys year-round warm weather and consequently is filled with fitness clubs of all types. Although the typical chain and franchises seen throughout the rest of the country can be found here, there are also many privately owned and smaller gyms to appeal to various ages, sexes and preferences.

24 hours

Anytime Fitness is open 24 hours a day. The gym provides security on site at all times and is open seven days per week, even on holidays. Inside the gym there are cardio machines such as stair climbers, elliptical cross-trainers, treadmills and rowing machines.
All the standard weightlifting and strengthening equipment is available to members. Other amenities include tanning beds, personal trainers on site, HDTVs to watch while you work out, and private restrooms and showers. A free seven-day pass is available to try to gym out before purchasing a membership.

No Frills

For those looking for access to exercise machines and basic strength-training machines without the fancy health cafes, personal trainers and yoga classes, Planet Fitness is the place to go.
A large chain, with a location in Melbourne, this gym offers inexpensive monthly fees for basic service: use of treadmills, elliptical and all the other machines you go to a gym for, plus the social aspect at a price almost anyone can afford.

Free

A unique concept, Trinity Fitness is a fitness center that is entirely free of charge to members. A nonprofit organization, run by a ministry, the goal of the gym is to learn how to take care of your mind and body.
Individuals are asked to donate, if they can afford to, but there is no monthly invoice or initial set-up fee. Fitness classes are held for both adults and children six days per week. The fitness center serves the Melbourne, Melbourne Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, Indialantic and Satellite Beach communities.

Women Only

Curves is a women-only franchise with two locations in Melbourne. Although the fitness center has basic cardio machines for use such as treadmills and ellipticals, its main focus is on the 30-minute cross-training circuit that members participate in.
This circuit includes step training, basic-strength training machines and other simple exercises that are done on a rotating basis for a short time period. This allows women to get a 30-minute workout combining both cardio and strength training.

Family owned

A large, family owned gym, Club Performax is a open seven days a week and members are both children and adults. The gym has services such as semi-personal or group-training sessions, fitness checks to assess your progress every six weeks, a nutrition program, an on-site massage therapist and a smoothie bar.
In the summer the gym holds fitness camps for children. Stationary-bike and other group fitness classes, unique to the gym, are offered to members.
