How to Do a Hair Twist

How to Do a Hair Twist

Women have many options when wearing their hair up. A classical up ‘do is the hair twist, also known as the French twist or roll. The hair style has an elegant and formal effect that emphasizes the jaw and neckline. A twist is best created with hair that is shoulder length or longer.

Step 1

Shampoo and condition hair your hair as usual. Dry hair using a blow dryer, or air dry . Use a hair straightening iron and smooth any curls and waves if a smooth, shiny roll is desired.

Step 2

Apply a small amount of styling product such as mouse or gel to the hair. Allow the product to dry. Smooth hair with a comb. The styling product adds texture and hold to the hair.

Step 3

Comb hair to the left side of the head, similar to a pony tail, and hold hair in place with one hand. Use your free hand to pin bobby pins in a vertical line in the center of the head.

Step 4

Take ponytail and twist hair tightly in a circular motion until all hair is twisted. Bring ponytail straight up, in a vertical line, and begin to roll and tuck hair vertically, creating the hair twist. Make sure hair is tightly rolled. Pin any loose hairs in place with pins.

Step 5

Use a comb to smooth away any bumps or flyaway hairs. Add pins to secure the twist to the head. Tuck pins carefully under the hair so they are concealed. Spray lightly with hairspray. Use a smoothing cream or gel to prevent hair from becoming loose.
