Stress balloons, also known as stress balls, are used to relieve tension and anxiety. You place the small balloons in the palm of your hand and slow squeeze. When you contract your palm, the muscles tense, and when you open your palm, the muscles relax. Squeezing the ball repeatedly causes the body to release strain and pressure, both mentally and physically. You can make a stress ball using a few simple household items to feel the relaxation benefits.
Step 1
Select a small, thick balloon. Gently stretch the balloon and blow it up so the balloon is about 4 to 5 inches in diameter. Do not tie the balloon, just hold it shut with your fingers about 2 inches from the opening. Do not let go.
Step 2
Place a funnel inside the balloon and fill with half a cup of sand. If sand is not available, use cornstarch or baking powder. Allow the balloon to expand until it reaches 3 inches in diameter.
Step 3
Hold the opening of the balloon and remove the funnel. Push out any remaining air from the balloon. Tie the balloon as close to the filler ingredients as possible.
