Libido naturally fluctuates, both within the lifetime of a relationship and within the lifetime of an individual, in response to physical and other changes. It is important to treat low libido proactively and with honesty. A lessening of sexual desire does not necessarily mean that there are major problems in your relationship. Create a dialog with your partner about your desires and needs. There are natural ways to increase sexual desire in a marriage that support both partners.
Step 1
Stay active. A healthy body increases the chances of a healthy libido. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise five days per week. Exercise increases self-confidence and gives you more energy, two qualities needed for a healthy sex drive . For an extra boost in desire, try exercising with your partner.
Step 2
Eat well. Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins helps keep you fit and increases your energy levels. Eating well also can help you lose weight, which can increase your libido if you are self-conscious about your body.
Step 3
Add romance to your relationship. Finding ways to bring more romance into your marriage is a way to help improve sexual desire. For example, cook a nice meal together or plan an evening out without the kids.
Step 4
Communicate with your partner. Be honest if you are experiencing a a low sex drive or if you wish you partner had more sexual desire. Consider counseling if you don't feel that there is space and support in your relationship to be open about sexuality; this could be a warning sign of an underlying problem.
Step 5
Create space in your relationship for sexuality. This could mean setting aside a specific time for sex, going on a date, introducing more foreplay into your sex play, giving each other massages, etc.
