Tattoo removal can sometimes be a painful as well as long process. In the event that a tattoo has been removed, it is vital that the site be treated and cared for to facilitate a fast and effective healing process. When using the Ultralight-Q Laser System, to remove a tattoo, the aftercare process is relatively simple.

Step 1

Gently wash the wound using soap and water, take care that it is not scraped or scrubbed.

Step 2

Pat dry with cloth. Again, do not scrape or rub vigorously.

Step 3

Apply a thin coat of antibacterial ointment using a cotton swab or the tip of a clean finger. This step may be repeated up to three times daily, or as needed.

Step 4

Gently apply the sterile bandage to the wound. Thoroughly cover the entire area. Secure tightly.

Tips and Warnings

  • If swelling around the removal site is experienced, apply a cool compress or cold cloth to the area. Tylenol can be taken for pain as needed. Avoid shaving, as the risk for scab removal is greatly increased. It is recommended that you do not wear any makeup or cream for at least 48 hours after treatment, and sunblock should be used for at least three months following removal.
  • Do not pick at or scrape the scab that may form, as this can lead to permanent scarring. Avoid aspirin for pain, as this can cause unnecessary bleeding. If the treated site becomes irritated, red, inflamed or a pus-like liquid forms, contact your doctor immediately. If any treatment is accompanied by shortness of breath or breathing issues, rash or swelling in an area other than the wound site, call 9-1-1 as soon as possible.
