Kiehl's originally began as an apothecary in 1851 in New York City. The first Kiehl's product, Original Essence, was developed in 1921 and by the 1960's had a full range of skin care products. As of August 2010, the brand has nine collections of skin care products for both men and women.

Product Collections

Abyssine is a line of facial care which can help fight the signs of aging by combining Abyssine 657 with Corallina officinalis extract, two potent antioxidants, according to Kiehl's.



The Blue Herbal collection is formulated for oily skin and contains facial cleansers, astringents and moisturizers to clean pores and clear acne, claims Kiehl's. The products contain salicylic acid to help unclog pores and exfoliate.



The Bright Brightening Botanical collection of products contains a blend of botanical extracts to boost skin clarity, even skin tone, and fade discoloration, according to Kiehl's.



Cryste Marine uses algae extracts and criste marine, a botanical from the Mediterranean Sea to help firm, lift and increase skin's elasticity, according to Kiehl's.



Dermatologist Solutions is a collection of targeted products that treat skin concerns such as premature aging, irritation and sensitivity.



Facial Fuel is a men's line of skin care that uses citrus extracts, menthol and caffeine to invigorate skin, according to Kiehl's.



Acai Damage Repairing Skincare uses natural Acai, a super-fruit antioxidant to help prevent and repair the signs of environmental damage such as loss of elasticity and uneven tone and texture, according to Kiehl's.



Rare Earth is a collection of cleanser, tonic, lotion and masque that helps minimize pores and control oil with Amazonian white clay.



Ultra Facial is a collection of creams, lotions, toner and cleanser that hydrate and soften, according to Kiehl's.

Some of the newest Kiehl's product introductions include Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which uses essential oils to repair skin overnight, claims the brand, and Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50+, a lightweight, oil-free sunscreen.

The cost of Kiehl's skin care products varies, but many products are in the $20 to $40 range, as of August, 2010.
