The ubiquity of the Internet makes it possible for nearly anyone to visit websites and interact with others online. Children can do this easily at any computer with an Internet connection. However, the content on the Internet is largely unregulated. According to a study of Internet content by Top Ten Reviews, one in eight websites contains pornographic content. Additionally, social networking sites make it easy for children to interact with adults who disguise themselves as children. You can monitor your children's network activity by using special software that tracks their every move.
Step 1
Install the eBlaster software. This program analyzes Internet activity and provides a comprehensive report so you know what your child is doing online. Emails and chat messages are recorded along with website visits. The program compiles the results into an Activity Report that it emails to you daily, or on any schedule you set. You can also preemptively stop your child from engaging in certain activities. The program can block specific chat buddies or websites that you do not want active on the computer. It also records every typed character and also monitors detailed activity on some social networking sites.
Step 2
Install the Spytech software. This program records nearly all activities on a computer, including all typed text, Internet search queries, website history, online chats and emails. It also monitors offline activity, including any printing, while keeping a log of every program used on the computer. Spytech will alert you via email of any specific events for which you desire notification, and it creates a graphic report of the most common network activity. You can set up a list of websites, programs or chat friends that you wish blocked from the computer as well.
Step 3
Monitor your child's network activity with SpectorSoft, a program for recording computer use. This program is designed to specifically track detailed movements on two major social networking sites, while also monitoring general activity on any other website. You can view the SpectorSoft reports from any other computer, while you are at work or elsewhere. It also records the music your children listen to on the computer and logs any computer games they play. It creates a chronological listing of activities, so you know the exact order of their online movement.
