NASCAR added the Kansas Speedway, located in Kansas City, Kansas, to the schedule in 2001. The 1.5-mile facility broke ground in 1999 and has materialized as a cornerstone for auto racing in the country's heartland. From 2001 to 2010, the speedway hosted just one NASCAR Sprint Cup race. Beginning in 2011, the track will host two Sprint events in June and October. Kansas will also host one NASCAR Nationwide Series race and one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. Many fans who attend these events enjoy the camping experience.
