With concerns among environmentally conscientious parents about the ecological impact of disposable diapers and potential green alternatives, the minkee pocket diaper was invented. Made of a plush and absorbent fabric, called minkee, pocket diapers provide a comfortable and easy-to-wash alternative to plastic disposable diapers. The pocket diaper holds an absorbent pad against baby's skin. The diaper then fits around the baby securely with snaps or Velcro straps. When soiled, the pad and the outer diaper are washable. Changing a minkee diaper is simple and takes only a few minutes.
Step 1
Open the minkee diaper the baby is wearing. Remove the diaper. Separate the inner absorbent pad from the outer cloth diaper. If you use a diaper liner, dispose of the it, along with any solid waste, appropriately. If the minkee fabric is soiled, rinse it in warm running water. Place the wet minkee diaper and pad in the laundry for later cleaning.
Step 2
Clean your baby thoroughly with soap and water, and a clean cloth or wet wipes. Dry your baby with a clean and soft towel.
Step 3
Insert a clean absorbent pad into the pocket of a clean and open minkee pocket diaper. Align the pad and flatten it to cover the entire center of the minkee diaper. Place a liner in the center of the inside of the diaper.
Step 4
Lift your baby's bottom up and slide the back of the open diaper underneath. Lift the front of the diaper up between the baby's legs and onto the tummy.
Step 5
Fold the flaps on the back of the diaper over the front portion and snap or Velcro the flaps to the front of the minkee diaper.
