Texas archers of all ages and ability can join clubs and compete in local and state competitions. There are clubs dedicated to archers according to their location, age and archery type. Joining an archery club allows you to keep up with sport trends, compete and network with other archery enthusiasts.
Texas Field Archery Association
The Texas Field Archery Association provides for two levels of membership. The purpose of the TFAA is primarily to promote the sport through competition. The TFAA hosts tournaments for indoor rounds, field rounds, American rounds and 3-D tournaments. It combined membership with the National Field Archery Association. which gives the members eligibility to compete in the championships of all NFAA and TFAA competitions and subscriptions to the national and Texas magazines.
Texas State Archery Association
The mission of the Texas State Archery Association is to promote archery in Texas through tournaments, education and networking. They are associated with the National Archery Association. Members of this organization competed in the Olympics and World Championships. They work to coordinate the different archery groups within the state.
Local Memberships
In many of the larger cities, there are groups that have organized local chapters of archery clubs. Some of these are the Bosque Bow hunters, Cow town Bowmen, Hill Country Bow hunters and Mesquite Archery Club. Most large cities in Texas have archery clubs. They hold local competitions and provide an excellent way to network with other archery enthusiasts.
Collegiate Archery Clubs
College students can participate in college archery competition through their school's archery club. Texas A&M University and University of Texas are the two schools in Texas that have archery clubs. Collegiate competitions are held through the United States Collegiate Archery Association.
4-H Archery
Local 4-H Clubs provide 700 to 800 youth in Texas with the opportunity to learn and compete in local, area and state archery competitions. The 4-H program is partnered with the Texas State Archery Association to introduce youth to the sport with the hopes that they will continue to participate in the sport as they grow older.
Pro Shops
Another archery club that you might consider joining is a local pro shop. Membership usually provides access to indoor and outdoor ranges as well as a shop for archery supplies. There is usually a knowledgeable staff that is dedicated to the sport and can provide valuable assistance in purchasing supplies and improving technique.
