Old Town makes high quality canoes in four basic types, traditional wood, general recreation, sports platforms for fishing and hunting an expedition models. Old Town even makes a "courting" canoe style, once popular in the early 20th century.

Classic Wood Canoes

Old Town's classic cedar strip wood canoes are built on molds designs more than 100 years old. Beautiful boats designed for lake paddling and trips, cedar canoes are expensive and require greater care and maintenance than plastics and composites.

Recreation Canoes

Old Town's recreation canoes come in a variety of easy to care for materials and in shapes suitable for paddling lakes, ponds or quiet rivers. Stable and versatile, these canoes are designed for families and canoeing neophytes.

Tripping/Expedition Canoes

Old Town's high-volume traditional expedition designs carry large loads of supplies, survive hard use and negotiate whitewater and windy weather. The rockered ends provide maneuverability needed in rough conditions. Flaring at the ends keeps water out of the boat.

Sport Canoes

Old Town's sporting canoes shorter, wider hull designs provide a stable working platform. Square stern models can mount outboard motors. Removable work decks, rod holders and other features support canoe fishing, hunting and camping activities.

Features

Old Town canoes range in price from around $500 to almost $10,000. They come with a variety of features ranging from cup holders and storage compartments to almost indestructible multi-layer composite hulls, maximized for speed, maneuverability or stability. Take your pick.
