The last thing that anyone wants to see peering back at them in the mirror in the mornings is reddening, blotchy and blemished skin. Generally speaking, there are some skin conditions, like rosacea, that will always cause red skin side effects in sufferers. However, if you have not been diagnosed with these conditions of the skin and you are noticing red skin side effects, check with your doctor so you can know for sure.
Allergic Reaction
If you are experiencing red skin side effects, the first place you should look is wherever you store your skin care products. You may be allergic to something contained within the products, or they may be just too aggressive for your skin type. Seek out milder and gentler products to ease your red skin. Avoid using any products that contain alcohol, scents and fragrances, or a commonly used foaming agent that really dries out your skin, sodium laurel sulfate.
Acne Medications
For those using prescribed acne drugs or creams to treat their skin, red skin side effects can be commonplace. Most of the time, they are nothing to worry about, but in some cases they can be serious. If you do experience any red skin side effects from prescribed drugs or creams you are using, contact your medical provider right away.
Vitamin-Rich Creams
Vitamin A, commonly called Retinol, and vitamin E can cause redness in your skin even from the slightest bit of exposure to the sun. If you are using these creams make certain that a very strong SPF rated (at least 30 SPF or better) sunscreen is part of your daily routine. The most common related red skin side effect from using such vitamin-rich creams is the increased vulnerability to sunburn; which can also lead to dried out skin, flaky skin, or worse: skin cancer.
