What Is Vitamin E Found In?

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, meaning it is stored in the fat cells of the body for a long period of time. It is an antioxidant vitamin as well, which makes it important for boosting immunity. Vitamin E helps keep the heart functioning properly, helps produce red blood cells and helps with the function of the sex organs. Vitamin E can be found in several ordinary foods.

Oils

Vegetable oil and olive oil are two examples of oils that contain vitamin E. Oils are used for cooking, baking, salad dressing and even for rubbing on the skin to moisturize it. Olives by themselves also have vitamin E, as does shortening.

Eggs

Vitamin E can be found in eggs, which also contain protein, amino acids, fat and cholesterol. They were once avoided, because of their fat and cholesterol content, but they have since gained acceptance as a healthy food when eaten in moderation.

Greens

Examples of greens that contain vitamin E include spinach, collards, mustard greens, swiss chard and turnip greens. Greens are predominately used in salads, but they can also be steamed and used as side dishes.

Nuts

Almonds are high in vitamin E. When you want to lose weight, they are a good snack choice, because they help fill you up with only a little volume. Almonds can also be found in the form of almond butter.

Seeds

One type of seed that is high in vitamin E is sunflower seeds. They also come in the form of sunflower seed oil and sunflower seed butter.

Whole Grains

Whole grains are high in vitamin E and dietary fiber. Examples include brown rice, bulgur, barley, oatmeal, buckwheat, quinoa, whole rye and wheat germ.
