As the capital of California, Sacramento is a busy metropolis and the center of state government. Residents have many options for activities, including working out and exercising. There are several fitness clubs in the Sacramento region. Each have amenities that will appeal to your particular need, whether it is family friendly, classes or other preferred activity.

Family Friendly

Working out at a fitness club can be a great way to spend quality time with your family. California Family Fitness centers have many amenities that cater to kids, including children's basketball, a rock-climbing wall and a children's activity center. In addition, if you are looking to work out without the kids, the club provides child care.
There are several California Family Fitness locations in Sacramento and some are what the company calls "Super Clubs." These locations might offer more amenities than others.
California Family Fitness offers several membership options, including a discounted rate for a family membership.

Tennis

Several clubs have racquetball facilities but not all fitness clubs have tennis courts. Natomas Racquet Club can fill the need to practice your serve, backhand and volley. The club is located near downtown Sacramento and offers 17 tennis courts, 15 of which are lighted in order to play at night. Tennis lessons are available and tournaments are held for players of all ages.
Natomas Racquet Club is also a full-service fitness club and part of the Spare Time Club network. Joining this club will give you access to other clubs in their network.

Classes

Most fitness clubs offer classes in various exercises, including yoga, pilates, indoor cycling and kickboxing. Both California Family Fitness and Natomas Racquet Club provide a full schedule of classes. Other fitness clubs in the Sacramento area do as well. For example, the Capital Athletic Club has a wide variety of classes during different times of the day, making it easy to get a workout in before or after work and even during your lunch break.

Feeling like a VIP

Some people say that deals get made when business executives see one another working out at a fitness club. That could easily happen at the Capital Athletic Club, a state-of-the-art fitness club located in downtown Sacramento. The club has many of the amenities you'll find elsewhere, including exercise machines, racquetball, volleyball and swimming. However, this fitness club also provides more luxurious features, including executive lockers, a free shoe shine service and a men's executive lounge. Hair styling and dry cleaning services also are available on site.

Additional Features

Almost all fitness clubs in Sacramento will provide you with a brief trial membership to allow you to experience the club and its amenities. This is an excellent way to determine which one is right for you. In addition, almost all clubs provide services such as personal trainers and nutrition information to help you meet your fitness goals.
