Unless you spend your life making no facial expressions whatsoever, you will develop lines on your face--and your forehead is one of the main places they will form. However, you may help delay the development of lines or reduce their appearance with exercises that target the muscles supporting your facial skin. Combining these exercises with a healthy diet and daily sun and skin care routine is also important.
Brow Lift With Resistance
Place the index and middle fingers of both hands above your eyebrows, advises Saga.co.uk. Gently push your brows down with your fingers and, at the same time, use your forehead muscles to try to raise your brows. The finger resistance will make your muscles work harder, helping them to become stronger and better able to support your skin and prevent sagging. Saga.co.uk recommends doing five sets of up to 10 repetitions.
Eyebrow Scrunch
This exercise works in tandem with the Brow Lift above, because it requires you to make the direct opposite movement. The Dermaxime skincare website says to sit up straight, looking straight ahead with your face muscles relaxed. Draw your eyebrows together and down over your eyes as much as you can, and wrinkle up your nose so your nostrils are flared. The horizontal lines on your forehead should smooth out, but vertical wrinkles will be between your brows in this position. It might help to imagine you are confused and have also just smelled something bad. Hold this wrinkled position for about five seconds, relax and repeat five times--or as many times as you do the Brow Lift.
Eyebrow Stretch
This exercise requires you to lie on your back on a bed or couch, with your head hanging over the edge, according to Perfect-Body-Toning.com. Look up at the ceiling and raise your eyebrows as high as you can and open your eyes as wide as possible, as if you have just been completely surprised. Hold for a few seconds, relax and repeat 10 times.
