Pinworms are small, round worms that appear white in color. These parasites live in the human intestinal tract and are most common in children. Causing symptoms such as itching and inability to sleep, pinworms lay their eggs on the outer rectum. According to FamilyDoctor.org, the females come out at night to lay their eggs, which is what causes the itching and inability to sleep for most children. It is important to consult your physician for a proper diagnosis before trying any home or natural remedies for pinworms.

Step 1

Wash all bedding and clothing in hot water. According to FamilyDoctor.org, this will eliminate pinworm eggs that have attached to fabrics and prevent them from being spread to other family members. Do the same with toys and other objects your child touches on a daily basis.

Step 2

Allow your child to snack on one ounce of pumpkin seeds per day until pinworms are eliminated, suggests "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies". Pumpkin seed enzymes aid in pinworm expulsion from the intestinal tract.

Step 3

Clean your child's fingernails thoroughly to remove trapped eggs from scratching. According to FamilyDoctor.org, nails should be kept clean and short to prevent re-infestation and transfer of pinworms.

Step 4

Add ginger to your child's food or allow him to eat a couple pieces of pickled ginger. Ginger has been shown to immobilize most species of intestinal worms including pinworms, according to "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies". You may also give your a piece of ginger root to chew on throughout the day.

Step 5

Bathe your child daily to eliminate eggs from the rectum. According to FamilyDoctor.org, bathe your child in the mornings instead of at nighttime. This is because female pinworms lay their eggs while your child sleeps.

Step 6

Add wormseed to soups or brew into a tea to help expel pinworms from your child's intestines. According to "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies", wormseed is available at nutrition stores under its Spanish name, epazote.

Step 7

Mix the juice of three garlic cloves to four or six ounces of carrot juice. Have your child drink this mixture every two hours, suggests "The Doctors Book of Home Remedies". Garlic is a natural antibiotic that helps rid the body of pinworms through intestinal cleansing.
