Considered the birthplace of the Texas flag, Montgomery is one of the oldest towns in Texas. The historic downtown district and outdoor recreational activities make Montgomery a fun and interesting place to be. Young children can also enjoy a variety of activities in and around Montgomery.

Camping

Camping or just getting out to enjoy nature with your toddler is an activity that you can enjoy. Sam Houston National Forest is a short drive from Montgomery and has campgrounds that include water access, showers, and picnic tables under shelter. You can also choose a campground that gives you direct access to Lake Conroe, where you can help your toddler try fishing and boating.

Park

Your toddler can enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, and a playground in Conroe. Conroe is the home of the 7 Acre Wood, a family amusement and entertainment park. It is located within minutes of Montgomery, making it a popular destination for Montgomery families with toddlers and older children. Seven Acre park also has a play town that is western-themed and a putt putt golf course. On weekends, there is frequently a live band or special event like family fun night . Cedar Brake Park is located just a few minutes from downtown Montgomery. It is home to picnic table and grills as well as a handicap accessible playground.

Educational Activities

Montgomery has options for educational activities for your toddler. Gymboree classes help your child to learn how to move and combines music and art activities. They have drop in sessions as well as sessions that you can sign up for. The public library offers toddler story times that are 20 minutes long, the perfect amount of time for a toddler attention span.

Farmer's Market

In Historic Montgomery, local farmers gather on the first Saturday of each month. Toddlers can pick out their own fruits and vegetables. Some farmers offer opportunities to visit their farms and harvest your own food in a pick-your-own option. Live music and crafts will also keep your toddler occupied and happy.

Lake Conroe

Lake Conroe, about 15 miles from Montgomery, is a popular destination. A 22,000-acre lake offers water ride, water sports, and fun playing on the beach. Your toddler can also tour the lighthouse on the lake or riding on a boat. The lake offers close access to downtown Conroe where you and your toddler can enjoy food at local restaurants before returning to the lake.
