How to Treat Worms in Children Using Natural Medicine

If your child is frequently scratching their anus, picking their nose and complaining of abdominal discomfort, they may have worms. Look for inflammation and white thread-like worms around the anus and in the feces. If you determine that worms are present, apply a a combination of therapies to effectively remove the worms from your child's digestive tract. According to "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Healing Remedies" and "Ayurveda, Science of Self Healing,"Cayenne pepper stuns the worms, garlic will kill them and senna helps the bowel to eliminate them. Acidophilus and yogurt soothe and strengthen the digestive tract.

Step 1

Wrap a clove garlic of in cotton gauze and insert it into the child's anus.

Step 2

Grind the lemon seeds in a nut grinder, blender or mortar and pestle, mix them with a little honey and have your child eat the mixture. Repeat this treatment every day for five days.

Step 3

Combine senna and cayenne powder with 2 tbsp. plain yogurt and mix well. Feed the mixture to your child. Add the optional cinnamon and a little to improve the taste if needed.

Step 4

Give your child an acidophilus tablet every day for a month to repopulate the intestine with healthy protective bacteria.

Step 5

Repeat steps one through three for two weeks after the original treatment to expel worms that were embryos during that time.

Tips and Warnings

  • Prevent worm infestations by feeding your child only thorpughly cooked meats, washing their hands well before eating--especially if they have been playing outside--and keeping fingernails short and clean.
  • Talk to your doctor before implementing any home remedies or herbal treatments. Cayenne and senna are powerful herbs that stimulate elimination. They may cause diarrhea, but keep in mind that this powerful action helps to expel the worms.

  • 5 lemon seeds
  • Raw garlic
