Beaverton, Oregon is a western suburb of Portland with approximately 86,000 residents. Beaverton has abundant opportunities for recreation and physical activities. Catering to the active Oregon lifestyle, Beaverton offers many different clubs for fitness enthusiasts to choose from. Most locations offer a full range of fitness services, such as group exercise classes, personal training and nutrition counseling. However, some clubs specialize in various formats such as sports performance, pilates, yoga and rehabilitation.

Chain Fitness Clubs

Beaverton is well represented by chain fitness clubs that serve the local population. These chains include 24 Hour Fitness and Bally Total Fitness. Locally-Owned Fitness Clubs

For a sense of local flavor, it is always a good idea to visit clubs that are locally-owned and operated. These local clubs can be a small boutique club or a larger full-service club. ADAPT Training offers specialized boot camps and personal training as well as rehabilitation and physical therapy. Of course, with Nike World Headquarters located in Beaverton, the Nike campus itself, as well as the Bo Jackson and Lance Armstrong fitness centers, are available for those who have business on the Nike campus.

City-Run Fitness Clubs

The Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District operates the 92-acre Howard M. Terpenning (HMT) Recreation Complex. This complex offers both indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities year-round. The complex boasts an athletic center, tennis, aquatic center, numerous sports fields and two skate parks. There are also many walking and running trails throughout the complex.

Pilates Studios

Beaverton is home to many private pilates studios. While these locations tend to be highly specialized, they can be a welcome respite for a weary traveler. Some local studios include Anybody Pilates, Poise Studio and Innate Intelligence. Most have websites that give a detailed explanation of their styles, background and philosophy.

Yoga Studios

While many pilates studios also offer yoga, there are also many yoga centers located in Beaverton. These yoga studios include Heartsong Yoga Wellness Center, Bikram's College of India and Sunset Yoga Center to name just a few. Both yoga and pilates are well represented in Beaverton, and a practitioner of both arts will have no trouble finding a location that suits her particular style.
