How to Cleanse Your Child's Colon

Colon congestion is usually the result of many years of unhealthy eating. Therefore, it is rare to come across it in children under 10. If your child has been partaking in a less then healthy diet or is exhibiting any other symptoms of constipation such as inconsistent bowel movement, bloating, headaches, fatigue and depression or abdominal pain a colon cleanse may be in order. Preparing a gentle home remedy is a quick and easy way to relive your child's discomfort.

Step 1

Mix together the arrowroot powder, vitamin C crystal powder and bone meal powder in a glass. The arrowroot powder is a thickening gel that will help sooth your child's digestive tract. The vitamin C crystal, also known as ascorbic acid will assist is dissolving mucus waste and the bone meal is an digestible calcium that promotes healthy peristalsis of the intestine.

Step 2

Add the orange juice to the solution and mix thoroughly.

Step 3

Feed your child a small snack like a banana and a large glass of water before giving the mixture to him to ensure that he is not consuming the cleansing liquid on an empty stomach.

Step 4

Give your child the orange juice mixture just prior to bedtime. After she finishes the mixture, have her drink a small amount of water to clear the acid out of her esophagus.

Step 5

Avoid giving your child anything else to drink throughout the night so as to not dilute the colon cleansing mixture in his system.

Step 6

Massage your child's abdomen the morning after administering the cleanse to help release her bowels.

Step 7

Finish the process by giving your child a liquid or capsule probiotic to be taken with room temperature water.

Tips and Warnings

  • These ingredients should be available at your local health food store but if you can not locate the exact ingredients, you can substitute arrowroot powder with potato starch.
