Detoxifying is a process of ridding the body of the toxins that are built up and stored. These toxins are produced by eating a poor diet with foods that are not as easily digested. There are certain types of foods and drinks that you can add to your diet, or replace in your diet to help the body naturally cleanse itself.

Fruits

Fruits have high water content, are easy to digest and absorb, and have powerful antioxidants that your body needs to assist the detox process. Some of the best types of fruit that you can include in your diet are apples, citrus fruits and berries. According to the Global Healing Center, eating fruits that are high in vitamin C and other essential vitamins are one of the ways to rid your body of toxins.

Green Foods

One of the causes of toxins in the body can be from environmental hazards that you are exposed to. Pollutants such as metals and herbicides can cause a build up of toxins. Eating plenty of green foods such as blue algae, barley, kale, spinach and wheat grass can help your body detox and can also work to detoxify the liver.

Onions and Garlic

Eating onions and garlic can help the detox process in your body, and help the liver to properly cleanse itself. You can incorporate these foods easily into your diet by adding them to pasta dishes, salads and soups. Onions and garlic assist the liver in producing enzymes to help digest the foods that you eat.

Water and Herbal Teas

One of the most important nutrients that your body needs to properly function is water. According to Detox Foods, water is one of the key elements that helps your body naturally detox. Also include herbal teas into your diet in lieu of a portion of the water intake.
