Trampolines can provide hours of enjoyment and exercise for kids. Although just jumping up and down on a trampoline can be entertaining, it's also fun to play games on the trampoline. Whether your daughter is throwing a birthday or slumber party or just hanging out in the backyard with her friends, playing trampoline games is a way for the girls to enjoy a challenge and get exercise. Although many trampoline games require several players, keep in mind that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that only one person bounce on a trampoline at a time to lessen the risk of injury.

Crack the Egg

To play Crack the Egg, first choose one girl to be the "egg." The egg sits in the middle of the trampoline with her knees drawn up to her chest and her arms holding her legs in. The other players form a circle around the "egg" and jump. The goal is to get the "egg" to "crack" by letting go of her legs. Once the egg cracks, she becomes a jumper and a new player is chosen to be the "egg."

Seat Bounce

All the players start bouncing on the trampoline in a pattern, alternating a regular jump, in which they land on their feet, with a seat drop, in which they land on their bottoms with the knees bent and feet tucked in. A player is "out" when she breaks the pattern. The person who can keep up the pattern the longest is the winner. You can make this game more challenging by changing the pattern--putting two seat drops between a jump or adding simple tricks, like splits in the air. Make sure everybody can perform a trick safely before adding it to the repertoire.

Hot Potato

Hot Potato is a classic game that takes on a fun twist on a trampoline. To play, you'll need a small, soft ball. All the players begin bouncing up and down on the trampoline together. The first player begins the game by taking the ball and tossing it to the person on her left. The ball travels around the circle, with each girl catching it from her right and tossing it to her left. A girl is "out" if she drops the ball, holds the ball for more than five seconds, stops bouncing or falls while trying to catch the ball. The last person left wins the game.
