The Aquaflex Pelvic Floor Exercise System is a manual pelvic floor toner for woman. The system comes with two cones and adjustable weights that you insert into your vagina. The pelvic floor muscles must activate to hold the cone or it will not stay in place while standing. Since one in three woman will use the wrong muscles when trying to do pelvic floor exercises such as Kegels without equipment, an Aquaflex may be more effective for strengthening these muscles.

Beginner Exercise

Strengthening the pelvic floor may reduce incontinence in women. When the pelvic floor muscles are weak, urine may escape when you cough or sneeze. These muscles may become weak due to pregnancy or childbirth, or simply from lack of use. Using the Aquaflex system will strengthen these muscles, but if you over do it the instances of incontinence may increase because your muscles are too tired and/or not able to recover from lack of rest. This is more likely if your muscles are very weak from childbirth. For a beginner, use the larger Aquaflex cone with the smallest weight. The smallest weight is 5g and the large cone is 65mm long and 27mm in diameter. Simply insert the Aquaflex cone into your vagina and leave it there for 15 to 20 minutes as you go about your day.

Intermediate Exercise

The smaller cone may hold all of the circular weights that come with the Aquaflex system. Intermediate exercisers can use the smaller cone, which is more difficult to hold onto because although the smaller cone is the same length as the larger cone, it is 7mm smaller in diameter. Up to 55g may be placed in the smaller cone and then inserted into the vagina for exercise. Do the exercise in an upright position at all times so that gravity will try to pull the Aquaflex out, which forces your muscles to contract passively to prevent this from happening. Use the Aquaflex for up to 20 minutes, increasing weights only after you can do 20 minutes easily. There is one 10g and two 20g weights in addition to the 5g that you should begin exercising.

Supplementary Weights for Active Exercises

It is also possible to use the Aquaflex system actively with heavier weights with the Add On Stainless Steel Weights Set. These weights come in 50g, 85g and 95g weights. Use these in the larger cone. Instead of inserting the cone and leaving it inside your vagina for 15 to 20 minutes, actively squeeze it with your pelvic floor muscles for the desired number of sets and reps. Do not squeeze your abs, glutes or thighs as these muscles. A general strength training guideline is to perform eight to 12 reps. Remove the Aquaflex once you have completed your workout.
