Pennsylvania drug rehabilitation centers offer an array of programs to promote successful recovery to patients suffering from addiction. Each type of recovery program differs in length and approach, but all of them work to help patients attain freedom from chemical dependency and maintain sobriety.
Residential
Because many factors of daily life may trigger drug use, Livengrin Counseling Center's residential program offers a temporary separation from a patient's current situation to promote recovery. Located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, this center supports patients physically---providing medical detoxification and treatment of withdrawal symptoms---and mentally through individual and group counseling, life-skills training and 12-step meetings. Livengrin invites patients to stay up to four weeks. For a longer residential program, Bowling Green Brandywine, located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, offers long-term treatment for up to 12 months.
Outpatient
For patients who would like to continue with the recovery process after inpatient treatment or believe a residential program is not appropriate, Livengrin Counseling Center also offers outpatient services from its five outpatient centers throughout Pennsylvania including centers in Philadelphia and Allentown. Livengrin's outpatient programs may range from treatment on a daily basis to just a few hours a week. This type of recovery focuses on individual and family rehabilitation education and group therapy while allowing the client to live at home. Based in Bangor, Pennsylvania, Recovery Revolution Inc. also offers outpatient services as well as life skills courses and gambling treatment.
At Work
Established in 1986, New Insights, located in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, provides "Rehab While at Work." Its partial hospitalization program offers patients a recovery program while avoiding absence from work. While providing residence at an inpatient setting, the program integrates recovery and lifestyle change into the patient's current environment. As of August 2010, New Insights partial hospitalization program is available only to adult males.
Holistic
St. Joseph Institute, located in Port Matilda, Pennsylvania, uses the holistic approach to heal all elements of a patient. Its holistic approach to drug rehabilitation focuses on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of recovery. Using natural and traditional medical methods, the institute aims to re-balance the patient's body. Along with counseling, patients receive spiritual direction, as St. Joseph Institute is faith-based. Also using the holistic approach, the Clarity Way Treatment Center in Hanover, Pennsylvania, has a holistic center right on its grounds, providing art and music therapy.
Sober Living
To maintain a commitment to recovery, patients may choose to live in a sober living residence also known as transition housing. With many homes located in the Pittsburgh area, The Next Step Foundation houses both men and women who are in recovery. After rehabilitation, patients may enter transition housing to work on maintaining sobriety and becoming productive members of society. In addition to offering continuing treatment, the foundation also offers job placement assistance, family services and tax preparation.
