The Ping G5 line was introduced in 2005 with a driver, fairway woods and perimeter-weighted, cavity-back irons. The clubs include other characteristics designed to improve a golfer's game.

Drivers and Fairway Woods

The G5 driver is a fairly light titanium club that isn't daunting at address. The ball comes off the face quickly, while the fairly low kickpoint gets the ball up in a hurry. Fairway woods are marked by an internal weighting system meant to help maximize center of gravity. Each club boasts 455 Stainless Steel and a rocker sole, making them very forgiving clubs and easy to hit from the fairway.

Irons

Ping G5 irons feature unique perimeter weighting and fairly sharp leading edge. Each club in the 3- or 4-iron-through-pitching-wedge set picks the ball off the surface nicely and is forgiving on off-centered shots. The irons, however, do produce high trajectories, especially for players who have steep swing planes.

Availability

Ping G5s may be difficult to find, however, pre-owned dealers do see them. Private sellers and Ping collectors are also suitable sources. Drivers and fairway woods are slightly easier to find than irons, as of August 2010.
