Pimples and scars can be very embarrassing for those that get them, even if you do not get them regularly. While there are surgical treatments for scar removal and prescription treatments for acne and pimples, these are often expensive and unnecessary for an occasional breakout or minor scar. Luckily, there are some home remedies that can help to get rid of both scars and pimples with the same formula according to Julia Lawless, author of "The Encyclopedia of Essential Oils: The Complete Guide to The Use of Aromatic Oils In Aromatherapy, Herbalism, Health and Well Being."
Essential Oil Recipe
Step 1
Combine ½ tsp. sandalwood essential oil, ½ tsp. German chamomile essential oil, ½ tsp. geranium essential oil, ½ tsp. lemon essential oil, ¼ tsp. cedarwood essential oil, ¼ tsp. peppermint essential oil and ¾ cup olive oil in a small bottle or jar with a tight-fitting lid.
Step 2
Cover the bottle or jar and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds to combine the ingredients.
Step 3
Pour a small amount of the essential oil mixture onto a clean cotton pad.
Step 4
Dab the pad on the pimple or scar and leave it on for 30 minutes.
Step 5
Rinse the skin with cool, clean water and wash with a gentle cleanser. Apply your regular moisturizer if you typically use one.
Step 6
Use this treatment twice per day in the morning and evening. Stop using the mixture if it causes any irritation, redness or swelling.
Step 7
Store unused portions of the mixture in a cool, dark and dry place for 90 days. Throw the mixture away after 90 days has passed.
