The Warrior Diet was created by Ori Hofmekler, a former member of the Israeli Special Forces. According to his program, the key to weight loss is not so much what you eat but when and how. The Warrior Diet focuses on eating to rev up your metabolism, rather than sticking to specific schedules or meal plans. The program requires lots of physical activity and exercise.

Animal Products

According to the official Warrior Diet website, humans are programmed to eat their larger meals at night, so your main meal in this diet will be dinner. Dinner is the right time to eat heavier foods, such as meats, eggs and dairy. The Warrior Diet recommends choosing dairy from grass-fed animals only and sticking to seafood as much as possible instead of eating other meats. Fats in your diet should come from healthy sources such as flaxseed and primrose oils and soy lecithin, not from animal products.

Fruits and Vegetables

Although all fruits and vegetables are allowed in the Warrior Diet, you should aim for chemical-free, organic produce as much as possible. Roots and sprouted legumes are also good choices, as are nuts and seeds. The Warrior Diet discourages the consumption of processed foods. Carb restriction is discouraged, but since the diet focuses on foods that are as close as possible to their natural form, only whole grains are acceptable.

Supplements

The Warrior Diet encourages the consumption of protein shakes, especially whey protein. These can be used to replace a meal during the day or as an addition to your diet. Protein shakes should not contain chemicals or genetically-modified ingredients. Because the Warrior Diet discourages the consumption of too much meat or other protein products, the shakes can provide you with what your body needs without the added chemicals and fats. A multivitamin is also recommended, even if you eat healthy.
