Campgrounds around Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the geographic center of the state, is the county seat of Rutherford County. Campers visiting the area will find several lodging options while they enjoy the civil war historical sites, antebellum mansions, walking and biking trails, wineries and museums that surround the city.

Private Campgrounds

Several privately owned campgrounds can be found in and around Murfreesboro, including a family nudist campground! Some campgrounds offer convenience to local attractions, such as the Nashville Superspeedway. Most campgrounds offer both RV and tent sites along with full utility hook-ups.

State Park Campgrounds

Camping is available at Old Stone Fort State Archeological Park, located just over 30 miles southeast of Murfreesboro, or the Cedars of Lebanon State Park, located less than 30 minutes to the northeast. The Cedars of Lebanon State Park offers a campground with 117 sites for RV and tent camping. The campground at Old Stone Fort State Archeological Park offers 51 wooded campsites for RVs or tents.

State Park Campground Amenities

The Cedars of Lebanon campground hosts a camp store, souvenir shop and laundromat. Campers can enjoy hiking trails, swimming in the Olympic-sized swimming pool, a visit to the nature center, playgrounds, horseshoe pits and other sports facilities. At Old Stone Fort, boating, fishing and hiking opportunities are available within the park and golfing and swimming facilities are nearby. Sites at both parks have picnic tables, grills and electric and water hook-ups.

Area attractions

Guests at Murfreesboro-area campgrounds can enjoy a host of attractions. Murfreesboro itself has a revitalized downtown area, the Oaklands Historic House Museum, Discovery Center Children's Museum and the Murfreesboro/Rutherford County Center for the Arts. The city is located just 30 minutes from the Nashville Superspeedway. The Nissan North America manufacturing plant, in nearby Smyrna, offers tours to the public. And several wineries and distilleries operate in the region.
