Many hair-dying colors are available to transform hair into a bold fashion statement. Hair can be dyed at home or in a salon setting. As when using more natural hair colors, a variety of tips and tricks can be used to keep hair vibrant and colorful.
Step 1
Remember that though the box or solution may read as temporary, people with blonde hair may have to bleach the color from the hair to remove all of the pigment. Color will naturally fade to a light pastel shade but commonly will not be removed using shampoo alone for most blondes.
Step 2
Consider adding highlights or stripes of a color instead of an "all-over" look. Make a bold statement with a stripe of purple or blue. Concealing the stripe may be easy for people with longer hair, by adding the color to locks directly behind the ear. Hiding the hair color may be necessary because of employment and school guidelines.
Step 3
Avoid using at-home remedies to dye hair such as markers or powdered drink mixes, such as Kool-Aid. If the hair becomes wet, the dye may run from the hair and ruin clothing. A variety of temporary hair products are available that don't last more than one shampooing. Products come in gel and spray forms.
Step 4
Bleach the hair before dying for the most pigment possible. Bleaching hair a lighter color, even blonde, gives the color a rich, vibrant look. Bleaching damages hair, so consider having a professional stylist strip away pigment in a salon setting If done improperly, hair can break or fall out.
