The Warrior Diet, which is a plan created by Ori Hofmekler, claims dieters should revert to the eating behaviors of early man because this will trigger the human body's natural survivor mechanism, allowing it to achieve its peak form. The creators of this diet claim that it will help remove toxins from the body, help the body use fat as fuel, and produce a leaner and stronger physique. Please contact your doctor before beginning any diet or fitness plan.
Eat small meals during the day and eat one large meal at night. The creators of this diet explain in their book how the human body was programmed for night eating. Basically, the Warrior Diet allows you to eat larger meals during four hours of the the evening, preferably between the time you get home from work and go to bed.
The other 20 hours should be spent eating very small meals. According to Ori Hofmeler, creator of this diet, this allows the body to relax and properly digest food when you are sleeping. It will also help your body burn fat during the day and repair muscle tissue at night. Hofmekler also feels that this will promote your body's ability to fight stress and will help promote alertness during the day.
Select the foods you eat from the lower on the food chain. The creators of the diet feel that the human body should eat as they did in the days of hunters and gatherers. On the Warrior diet, your meals consist of whole grains, fish, fruits, vegetables, eggs, sprouted legumes, seeds and nuts.
You should avoid processed foods and sugary foods. Enjoy meat in moderation. While many diets feel that reducing carbohydrate intake is important for weight loss, the Warrior Diet makers have found that restricting carbohydrate intake can actually decline metabolic function.
Exercise often while on the Warrior Diet. In order to build stronger muscles, you must lift weights. In order to burn excess fat, you must do cardio exercise. However, instead of steady cardio or aerobic exercise, this plan requires that you do interval training, which includes bursts of more intense exercise. The goals of the Warrior Diet workouts are to improve endurance, strength and speed without adding bulky muscle.
When strength training, choose weights that are challenging but not so heavy where the reps are difficult. Instead, choose a weight you can maintain for three sets of eight to twelve repetitions. The last three reps should feel challenging. Don't ever workout to failure or extreme fatigue. Alternate between strength training and cardio workouts each day.
The American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes of exercise a day on most days of the week. Exercise helps improve functions of the body, allowing you to build a stronger and leaner body. Exercise also improves the body's ability to resist fatigue. Additionally, exercise helps improve your appearance. The Warrior Diet book includes a more detailed fitness plan to follow.
