Ping G2 irons are cavity-back, perimeter-weighted clubs with mid-size heads. The G2 line has three models: G2 Standard; G2 EZ, for slower swing speeds; and the G2 L, a women's model. Each club is standard fitted with a Ping steel shaft.

Benefits

Ping G2 irons, with their modified cavity backs and perimeter weighting, are comfortable clubs and launch the ball nicely. Lofts are standard and each club is slightly offset. Being mid-size, G2s are suitable for intermediate and advanced players.

Shafts

Each G2 iron is fitted standard with a steel Ping shaft available in stiff or regular flex. Both shafts are well-engineered and help direct the clubhead swiftly through impact.

Drawbacks

Novice players have trouble hitting G2 long irons. As a remedy, Ping made the G2 HL, which included 2- through 5-irons and were among the earliest hybrid clubs. G2 HL irons have wider soles and were easier for novices and intermediate players to hit.
