How to Apply Almond Oil

Almond oil has a variety of benefits from soothing dry, cracked skin to deep conditioning hair. The oil contains vitamins A, B1, B2 and B6. Almond oil is commonly used alone, or as carrier oil, mixed with essential oils such as lavender and citrus. Always store almond oil in a dark container; direct sunlight can damage the product.

Step 1

Clean skin with warm soap and water. Using a pumice stone, loofa brush or exfoliating paste, remove dead cells from the skin's surface. Dry skin by lightly patting with clean towel.

Step 2

Add essential oils to the almond oils for additional herbal benefits. Mix several drops of oil with 1 tsp. of almond oil. Some essential oils are too strong and expensive to use without carrier oil.

Step 3

Apply several drops of the oil onto the skin. Massage and rub into skin area for several minutes. Because almond oil is not greasy, it will quickly absorb into the skin. Almond olive may decrease puffiness under the eyes, according to Natural Home Remedies, a website devoted to holistic and herbal treatements.

Step 4

Deep condition hair by applying 1 to 2 tsp. of almond oil into your hair. Massage the scalp to increase circulation and distribute oil to the skin. Use a wide tooth comb to spread oil throughout your hair. Leave the oil in for 10 minutes, or longer if desired. Rinse and shampoo your hair.

Step 5

Resolve chapped lips by applying almond oil, according to Mama Herb, an online natural health website. Rub one drop of oil onto lips throughout the day. The oil has a light, nutty flavor.
