Many men develop chest hair during their adolescent years. As they get older, the hair may become longer, thicker or more dense. This can be problematic since the hair can get caught in clothing, generate more heat and cause body odor to develop more easily. Aside from being uncomfortable, chest hair can be embarrassing. You can use several different ways to remove unwanted chest hair, depending on your personal preference.
Step 1
Cut chest hairs using a good old-fashioned razor. Wash your chest area with warm water, leave it damp, apply shaving cream and gently shave off the chest hairs. Be careful not to apply too much pressure and cut yourself. Keep shaving until the hair is gone and rinse off the leftover shaving cream.
Step 2
Apply a depilatory cream to remove chest hair. Wash your chest and spread the cream over the hairs you want to remove. Let the depilatory work for 10 to 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly. If you have excess hair that was not removed, you can repeat this procedure or shave off the remaining hair using shaving cream and a razor.
Step 3
Wax off unwanted chest hair. Purchase a wax kit at your local drugstore and apply the wax with the applicator. Place the cloth strip over the waxed area and smooth it out. Take one end of the strip and pull off quickly as if ripping off a bandaid. Do this in every area you wish to have hair removed.
Step 4
Consider laser treatment for the best possible hair removal. Unlike the aforementioned methods, this is done in an outpatient setting. The procedure involves a laser that scans over the area with hair, killing the follicles and causing the hair to fall off. This may require multiple procedures for optimum results.
