Learning Hoops by LeapFrog is a toy created for young children that promotes sensory development, gross motor skills development, cognitive development and emotional development. It is a grow-with-me toy, that your child can enjoy as an infant and as a toddler. Learning Hoops combines the game of basketball with basic number, letters and words and promotes learning through positive reinforcement.

Features

Learning Hoops by LeapFrog has three main features, as identified in the Parent Guide included with the product. Counting mode encourages the learning of counting from 1 to 10. As the child puts the ball through the hoop, the toy counts out loud and shows the number on the scoreboard. Letters mode is similar to this, except as the child puts the ball through the hoop, the toy recites the alphabet and shows the letters on the scoreboard. The third feature of Learning Hoops is Game mode. This mode interacts with the child by teaching him various 3-letter words, introducing basic vocabulary and spelling.

Identification

Included in the product's box are the Learning Hoops basketball goal and two easy-grip basketballs. The features of the goal include a scoreboard, mode switch, volume control, breakaway hoop, adjustable cup and three different height positions. The toy requires 3 AA batteries, which are not included in the box.

Sensory Benefits

Learning Hoops' bright lights and colors can aid in sensory development. As reported by the Mayo Clinic, at six months of age an infant will begin to turn his head towards bright lights as he becomes more aware of the world around him. Providing toys such as Learning Hoops Basketball can promote that development. When the breakaway hoop is pushed down, the toy lights up. The toy is made in bright primary colors that can capture your child's attention.

Gross Motor Benefits

Your infant's gross motor skills, which include sitting upright and standing, are constantly developing. This toy can encourage an infant to sit and eventually stand as he interacts with the different features. Learning Hoops has three different adjustable levels, which allows the toy to grow as your child grows.

Cognitive Benefits

Learning Hoops can aid in cognitive development through the introduction of counting and of the alphabet. Repetition is important in any learning environment, and as your child hears numbers and letters repeated in interacting with this toy, those two basic lessons will be reinforced.

Emotional Benefits

The Learning Hoops toy can also promote emotional development. The toy features automated cheering and clapping, which can provide a rewarding learning experience for your child. When the normal functions of this toy are used, the child is encouraged to repeat the action by cheering from the crowd, which can be augmented by cheering from the parents.
