About Faces is a full-service day spa and salon founded in 1970, with five locations in the state of Maryland. Clients in the cities of Canton, Timonium, Salisbury, Towson and Pikesville can indulge in an array of services that contribute to what the company calls a "wellness lifestyle." Their approach is to utilize products and processes that rejuvenate and detoxify the skin, hair and nails.
Spa
The spa body treatments at About Faces are for "ladies only," designed to stimulate, detoxify, hydrate and exfoliate the skin. A Green Coffee body wrap targets cellulite areas, while a Moroccan Cocoon wrap uses Rassoul Mud to smooth the skin and relieve fatigue. Other wraps and masques use natural ingredients such as seaweed and aromatherapy bath salts. They also offer a sunless airbrush tanning service.
Salon
Hair services include cuts, shampoos and styling, color, extensions, perms, Japanese hair straightening, and the About Curls technique for managing curly hair. Every hair service includes complimentary Pro-Complex Treatment Ampoules. They also offer formal styling for weddings or other special occasions.
Skin Services Massage
Skin services include anti-aging treatments formulated with collagen, algae extracts, or sea treatments using marine and plant sources. Facials include European style, Anti-Stress, Spa Vitamin, Face Peels and an Alpha Hydroxy Exfoliation Treatment. They also offer two facials with Darphin phyto-aromatic beauty care products. Their waxing services use a soy-based, antimicrobial hair removal system.
Nails
Healthy nails are the basis of the nail services offered at About Faces, with regimens that encourage natural growth and care. Classic and French manicures and pedicures are a given, but clients can take it a step further with longer spa soaking treatments. They offer nail enhancements with acrylic, silk or gel, as well as overlays and fill-ins. Clients can finish off their pedicure with a foot pressure point massage.
Massage Therapies
The staff at About Faces believe that nurturing contributes to a wellness-based lifestyle, and so they provide full-body custom massage therapy. Options include a hot-stone spa massage, deep tissue massage for chronic muscle discomfort, a Polynesian Lomi Lomi massage and a detoxifying raindrop therapy with essential oils. A one-hour pregnancy massage can be scheduled with a doctor's permission after the first trimester.
Prices
Prices at About Faces vary slightly by location. As of August 2010, the body spa treatments range from $30 for a hydrotherapy bath up to $150 for body polish and spa combination services. Hair services start at $19 for a children's cut and go up to $48 for a woman's cut and style. Perms start at $90 and highlights at $120. Massage therapies and facials generally run from $55 to $160. Sample prices for nail care services are $23 for a classic manicure, $50 for a French pedicure and $75 for acrylic or silk extensions.
