How to Get Rid of Back Acne Scars and Blemishes

Acne can occur anywhere on the body that has oil glands, according to "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice." Since many people do not make it a habit of looking at their backs in a mirror, acne there can be especially difficult to treat because people do not realize they have it until it has grown uncomfortable, according to "Braun-Falco's Dermatology."

Step 1

Cleanse and exfoliate your back by washing it with body wash and a loofah daily in the shower. According to "Handbook of Dermatology: A Practical Manual," the loofah will slough off dead skin cells, allowing the scars and blemishes to be properly treated.

Step 2

Dry your back thoroughly with a towel. Be careful to pat yourself dry as opposed to scrubbing, which can damage and irritate your skin.

Step 3

Massage liquid vitamin E on your scars. Liquid vitamin E can be purchased in many health food stores, but if you have a difficult time locating it, pierce a vitamin E capsule and squeeze out its contents. According to "Braun-Falco's Dermatology," vitamin E will moisturize the skin and promote cell turnover, which will diminish the appearance of the scars over the course of eight to 12 weeks.

Step 4

Apply a small amount of benzoyl peroxide cream to your blemishes. According to "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice," the benzoyl peroxide will kill the bacteria and dry out the pus that causes the blemishes.

Things You'll Need
