On May 21, 2008 Nintendo released the Wii Balance Board packaged with the Wii Fit game. Wii Fit has since sold over 22 million units worldwide and the balance board has become a video game phenomenon. There is a long list of games that support the use of the Balance Board---which is now sold as an optional separate add-on---whether it's for exercise or simply moving your character from left to right.

Skate It

Skate It is a skateboarding game that was released for the Wii system on November 17, 2008. You begin as an amateur skateboarder flying around the world to real life locations like Paris, Shanghai and Barcelona, turning radical tricks en route to becoming a professional skater. The game is played by holding the Wii remote in your hand while standing on the Balance Board to control your virtual self. The game can be played solo or in multiplayer mode.

EA Sports Active

EA Sports Active is an exercise game that was released for the Wii system on May 19, 2009. EA Sports Active has more than 25 exercises and sports drills. Movements like water skiing, cardio boxing and step aerobics take full advantage of the Balance Board accessory. A separate pack can also be picked up containing a leg strap and resistance band to assist in your exercise routines. EA Sports Active supports single player and multi-player games.

Wii Fit Plus

The Wii Fit Plus is a sequel to Wii Fit and boasts an array of new training exercises, from yoga to strength training. The Fit Plus was released for the Wii system on October 4, 2009. The Fit Plus expands on the personal health tracking system laid out in the original Wii Fit game, supporting a full calorie watch, showing how many calories you consumed and comparing that to how many you burned. The Wii Fit Plus can be played by more than one person, however only one person can play at a time.

We Ski And Snowboard

We Ski and Snowboard is a winter sports game released for the Wii system on March 3, 2009. The game is played while holding both Wii remotes, one in each hand, and standing on the Balance Board. If you are skiing, you place the balance board parallel to the TV, and if you are snowboarding you turn the board perpendicular. You can compete with computer-generated characters---or take your game online to race or out-maneuver people from around the world.
