Acne can occur anywhere on the neck, though it is most common around the nape of the neck, according to "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice," due to its close proximity to hair, which often traps oil, dirt and debris close to the skin. Treating acne on the neck can be difficult, due to the delicate nature of skin on the neck. However, with daily care, you may be able to fully remove acne on your neck within three to six weeks.
Step 1
Wash your neck daily in the shower with body wash and a loofah. The loofah will gently exfoliate the skin by sloughing off dead skin cells, according to "Braun-Falco's Dermatology."
Step 2
Apply a small amount of benzoyl peroxide cream to the acne on your neck each day. The benzoyl peroxide will treat the acne by killing the bacteria that causes it.
Step 3
Pull your hair up off your neck if you have long hair. Use a hair clip or hair tie to secure your hair in an up-do while your acne heals. As noted, when hair lays against your neck, it traps oil and bacteria on your skin, which can cause acne. Removing the hair from your neck allows the acne to heal by ensuring that additional bacteria and oil is not introduced to the skin.
