Bike riders use ramps to catch air and perform modern-day BMX and mountain bike tricks. Building a bike ramp quickly only requires a few simple tools and supplies. Constructing a homemade bike ramp remains an inexpensive way for the rider to have fun. A quickly made bike ramp can function just as well as the more expensive professionally built ramps commonly featured in BMX and skateboard parks. Bike riders should always wear a protective helmet when attempting to ride on any type of ramp.
Step 1
Transport your bike ramp building materials to your desired construction site. Cut the piece of plywood in half using the circular saw to create two equilateral pieces of square-shaped plywood that have a 4-foot length and width. Place one of the pieces of plywood into storage in case you ever need to replace the ramp due to sun or rain damage.
Step 2
Place the large wooden log horizontally on the ground. Lay one of the edges of the remaining piece of plywood against the log to create an inclined ramp. Drill six screws through the top of the plywood and into the log to fasten them together. Separate the screws 3 inches apart.
Step 3
Slide the two cinder blocks under the inclined bike ramp to create a foundation that has the ability to hold the weight of the rider. Rub the sandpaper against the bottom edge of the plywood to allow the tires of the bike to ride smoothly up the ramp. Ride up your newly built bike ramp at a minimal speed to test the architecture.
