Cellulite and circulation are intimately linked. Cellulite forms under your skin as pockets of fat lose proper circulation and begin to accumulate toxins. In order to fix cellulite or circulation, you must address both. Circulation is also important for wound healing, healthy skin and nails, healthy hair growth and is intimately linked with your overall cardiovascular, or heart and blood vessel health.
Enhance Circulation From the Inside
Circulation, when we're talking about your health, refers to the process of moving your blood through your organs, muscles and tissues; as well as the efficiency of that process. Think of improving your circulation as a form of learning for your body. You can't learn everything at once, but you will learn by repeating the necessary information often. Learning to circulate better basically means moving your body more. We circulate blood using our heart as a pump and so anything that increases your heart rate, like exercise, deep breathing, sex, and all kinds of activity help to train your body to circulate. Exercise that is considered cardiovascular, meaning it raises your heart rate and respiration, is generally best to improve your circulation and should be repeated frequently. The rule of thumb is 30 minutes of vigorous activity three times a week to improve circulation and cardiovascular health. By improving circulation you are able to move more blood through the tissues where cellulite forms and eliminate toxins to smooth those tissues. Also incorporating a few minutes of deep breathing several times per day can help to boost your circulation and get rid of cellulite as you go about your daily routine. If you are new to exercising, then start with shorter durations of activity and work your way up to the optimal level. The most important thing is to keep your body moving regularly.
Eat Foods That Enhance Circulation
Food and nutrition contributes to the way your blood forms and so it can also contribute to how well that blood circulates. If your blood is too thick, it becomes sluggish in your vessels and can reduce circulation so eating foods that thin the blood and increase blood flow will help to increase circulation and reduce your cellulite. These foods include good sources of Omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish and flax seeds. lso foods that thin the blood like garlic, ginger and cayenne pepper. Eating lots of foods high in L-Arginine, or supplementing L-Arginine can dramatically boost your circulation as well. L-Arginine is a natural vasodilator, meaning that it opens your blood vessels to allow more blood to flow through. Foods high in L-Arginine include oatmeal, nuts, dairy and green vegetables. Enhancing your circulation through your foods will help to maintain the work that you are doing with cardiovascular exercise even when you are sitting still. This helps your body to clear out the pockets of cellulite more quickly.
Boost Circulation From the Outside
In order to target cellulite specifically, it is important to also address it from the body surface, right where you see it happening. There are a number of techniques that you can use, but all of them involve drawing blood to the surface by rubbing, scrubbing, brushing or massaging the skin. The important thing is that when you are finished the skin should actually look pink because of increased blood flow. This can be done with a dry medium bristle brush rubbed vigorously over the whole area for 10 to 15 minutes. This can also be done with a knobby skin stimulator in the shower for a similar length of time. By brushing or stimulating your skin in this way, it opens up the surface blood vessels and breaks up any clogged, damaged, toxic or stagnant tissue hence reducing cellulite.
