Aging is an inevitable part of life, and with that comes skin wrinkles. As you get older, collagen production decreases and skin starts to sag. There are lifestyle habits that also contribute to wrinkles, such as sun overexposure, environmental pollutants, malnutrition, chronic stress and smoking. Luckily, thanks to modern technology, there are plenty of remedies to help eliminate deep wrinkles.
Step 1
Choose an injectible dermal filler to plump deeply wrinkled skin. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, soft-tissue fillers are derived from human and bovine collagen, hyaluronic acid and your own fatty tissues. Dermal fillers are beneficial in two ways: They inject collagen into your skin and help promote internal collagen production. Results usually last around six months before another injection is needed.
Step 2
Use laser resurfacing treatments to eliminate deep wrinkles. This has been a popular method ever since the Food and Drug Administration approved it to treat wrinkles. Lasers work by placing a beam over affected skin, removing top layers, allowing new skin to emerge, and promoting collagen production. You may need more than one treatment for optimal results.
Step 3
Consider dermabrasion to resurface the outer layers of your skin. For this method, a wire brush is used to abrade the damaged surface layers of skin to reveal newer, smoother skin. Dermabrasion is generally done only once and it may take up to three weeks for skin to heal. Your dermatologist may prescribe antibiotics to prevent infections.
Step 4
Schedule an appointment with plastic surgeon to get a face lift. This procedure is the most drastic and most expensive, but results can last up to 10 years. It works by removing excess skin from your face and neck to tighten and smooth skin. Face lifts do not require multiple surgeries like many other treatments. Contact your cosmetic surgeon to discuss risks and benefits of this procedure.
